A new iOS app called Reelful, launched in 2026, uses AI to automatically convert photos and video clips from a user’s camera roll into short-form videos formatted for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and similar platforms.
The app was founded by Kate Deyneka, a former machine learning engineer at Snapchat where she worked on video and image models. Reelful is currently participating in a16z’s Speedrun program.
To create a video, users enter a text prompt describing the story they want to tell — such as a travel recap or event highlight — record a 30-second voice sample to generate a voice clone, and select media from their camera roll. Reelful then writes a script, adds an AI voiceover, and assembles a finished edit with captions, music, and sound effects. Still images can be animated into short video clips; for example, a photo of someone cutting fruit could be turned into a brief animated sequence. AI-generated clips include a watermark. Users can also refine completed videos by chatting with the app to swap music, revise the script, or make other adjustments.
Deyneka said the app is aimed primarily at founders and business owners who need to produce social content consistently but lack the time for traditional video editing. “I want to make it very effortless for people to share their life, their content, their expertise without actively editing or setting up the things on their laptop,” she told TechCrunch.
Reelful offers one-time credit bundles — five videos for $15, 15 for $43, or 33 for $90 — as well as monthly subscriptions: a Creator plan at $25 per month for 10 videos, a Pro plan at $50 per month for 25 videos, and a Studio plan at $100 per month for 60 videos.
The app is currently available only on iOS. Deyneka said Android and web versions are planned for the future.
