Indian AI coding startup Emergent has raised $130 million in a Series C round at a $1.5 billion post-money valuation — a five-fold increase from its $300 million valuation just six months prior. The round was announced in July 2026 and brings the company’s total funding to $230 million.
The round was led by private equity firm Creaegis, with participation from new investors MNI Ventures-Claypond and Sentinel Global, alongside existing backers Khosla Ventures, SoftBank’s Vision Fund 2, Lightspeed, and Y Combinator. Emergent had previously raised a $70 million Series B in January 2026.
The company was founded in June 2025 by brothers Mukund Jha, who serves as CEO, and Madhav Jha, who serves as CTO, and is headquartered primarily in Bengaluru with a small presence in San Francisco. Emergent currently employs around 200 people and plans to grow its San Francisco office by 30 to 40 staff by year’s end.
Emergent targets entrepreneurs and small-to-medium-sized businesses that have traditionally relied on email, spreadsheets, and messaging apps, offering what Mukund Jha described as “an engineering team in a box.” Customers include trucking companies, factories, construction businesses, and property managers building custom software tools. North America and Europe each account for roughly one-third of revenue, with India representing 8% to 9%.
The startup has reached an annualized revenue run rate of $120 million — up 70% over the past four months — and counts more than 200,000 paying customers. Jha acknowledged that design quality remains a weakness, noting that many AI-built applications tend to look similar.
Emergent plans to use the new capital to improve application success rates, expand its AI agent workflows, add support for local and open source models, and grow its go-to-market operations. The company is also considering opening a European office, citing strong customer traction in the region.
