OpenAI has acquired NextSlide, a startup that built an AI tool for generating presentations, with the deal having taken place earlier in 2026. NextSlide founder Ahmed Beshry confirmed the acquisition in a LinkedIn post, noting the announcement was coming “a few months late.”
NextSlide’s product was designed to convert prompts, notes, documents, or research into editable presentations. According to Beshry, the startup’s goal was “to make visual communication more accessible and help more people express their ideas clearly.” The team is now working on ChatGPT, OpenAI’s flagship AI assistant.
Beshry framed the move as a continuation of NextSlide’s original mission, saying the team would keep “building AI products that help people create, communicate, and turn their ideas into meaningful work.” Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Beshry brings prior startup experience to OpenAI. He was previously a co-founder at Caper AI, a smart cart and cashier-less checkout startup that Instacart acquired in 2021.
The acquisition suggests OpenAI may be looking to strengthen ChatGPT’s capabilities around visual content creation and presentation tools, though the company has not detailed specific product plans stemming from the deal.
