Automattic’s Mesh Contact Manager Launches on Android

Mesh, the AI-powered personal contact manager owned by Automattic, became available on Android in August 2026, expanding beyond its existing iOS presence to reach users on phones, tablets, and foldables via Google Play.

The Android version has been tailored to platform-specific features, including split-screen and pop-up views that let users access Mesh while working in other apps such as email or messaging. It also supports keyboard shortcuts for foldables and tablets, in-app search, home screen widgets with Material You color theming, and real-time sync across devices.

Mesh — formerly known as Clay — was acquired by Automattic, the parent company of WordPress.com, last year. The app lets users map and manage their personal and professional networks, attach notes to contacts, and set reminders to follow up with people. Automattic also owns Beeper, an all-in-one messaging app that connects platforms including WhatsApp, Instagram, Signal, LinkedIn, Slack, and others. Mesh and Beeper already interoperate to a degree: Mesh users can draft messages through Beeper or navigate to a contact’s Mesh profile via deep links.

The app currently includes Nexus AI in early access, which allows users to query their network — asking, for example, who they know at a specific company, who lives in a given city, or who has expertise in a particular area. Automattic says it is also testing a voice-based hands-free experience and an improved business card scanning feature.

“We have users who have ten-, twenty-, or fifty-thousand connections across multiple social media apps, across their work products. It’s an impossible task to think and be conscientious with each of those people, by yourself,” Mesh co-founder Zachary Hamed told TechCrunch.

Around 70% of Mesh’s current users are using the app for business purposes, with co-founder Matthew Achariam identifying executives managing large teams as a core audience. Personal data stored in Mesh is not used for ad targeting, the company says; the product is subscription-supported, with a free tier covering up to 1,000 contacts and paid tiers offering unlimited contacts and additional features.
