Apple announced at WWDC 2026 that its HomeKit Secure Video service will gain a set of Apple Intelligence features with the release of iOS 27, including AI-generated footage descriptions, natural language search, and automatic clip grouping across connected cameras.
The updates will allow the Home app to analyze camera footage and generate text summaries of what a camera recorded. Users will also be able to search across all connected cameras using plain-language queries — for example, locating the moment a package was delivered. The app will additionally link related clips from multiple cameras to provide a broader view of activity across a home, and will surface “noteworthy clips” on the search page.
Alongside the AI features, Apple announced 4K video resolution support for compatible HomeKit Secure Video cameras. The service previously capped video at 1080p. An iCloud Plus subscription is required to access HomeKit Secure Video, and the new AI features will be included in that plan.
Apple also introduced a notification update: multiple alerts from the same device can now be condensed into a single notification that updates as new activity is detected.
Similar AI-driven features have been added to home security cameras by Amazon’s Ring and Google’s Nest over the past year. Apple did not announce Matter support for cameras as part of these updates. The company has been rumored to be developing a video doorbell and security camera, and these software additions may be connected to that effort.
