Imagi, an edtech platform focused on coding and AI literacy for K-12 students, announced a $4.5 million seed round on July 23, 2026. The round was backed by Brighteye Ventures, Day One Capital, and artist Will.i.am.
Founded in 2018 by Dora Palfi and Beatrice Ionascu, Imagi provides students and teachers with tools to build curriculum around coding, computer skills, and AI literacy. The company says it has worked with more than 700,000 students across 140 countries since launch.
A key part of Imagi’s current offering is a partnership with vibe-coding tool Lovable, announced last November, which allows teachers to create lessons and give students controlled access to the platform. OpenAI has also provided $1 million in credits, enabling schools to access the Imagi-Lovable tool for free. “We continue providing free trials and freemium access thanks to their support,” Palfi said.
The platform screens every prompt and AI-generated response before it reaches students, removing violations in real time. Imagi also states compliance with COPPA, FERPA, and GDPR, with zero data retention and no student data used for model training. Teachers receive training on the tools so they can deploy them confidently in classrooms.
Palfi framed the product as a response to ongoing debates about AI use in schools. “Rather than worrying about students cheating or regressing with AI, the education system has to adjust to the reality,” she said. “Most kids already use AI, but we need to teach children to build with AI rather than just passively consume it.”
Student projects completed through the program include an app that translated a teacher’s curriculum into 15 languages, a digital wardrobe app, and a website built by a student to book appointments for his lawn-mowing business.
Imagi plans to use the new capital to expand into more K-12 schools, invest in district sales and hiring, develop new product features, and launch a new platform next month.
