Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg told investors on July 29, 2026, that the company sees a broad enterprise opportunity spanning AI agents, APIs, compute sales, and internal productivity software — well beyond the business AI agent it launched in June 2026.
“We see a large enterprise opportunity to sell to businesses, including APIs, business agents, potentially selling compute directly, and other services that we’re building for large customers,” Zuckerberg said on the company’s second-quarter earnings call.
Meta’s initial enterprise focus will center on its existing base of advertisers and small businesses, offering AI agents that operate across messaging apps and other platforms. Zuckerberg described the model as performance-based: “Just like the ad system, effectively, we will get paid when we deliver results for those businesses.”
The company also signaled plans to offer its internally developed coding, development, and productivity tools to external customers — both small and large businesses. Zuckerberg noted these tools were originally built for Meta’s own use, but now represent a potential market opportunity.
On compute, Zuckerberg said Meta currently has the ability to sell capacity at “a significant premium over what we paid for it,” but cautioned against prioritizing short-term gains. He described Meta’s approach as a “portfolio” balancing immediate revenue with longer-term infrastructure needs, adding that hardware capable of supporting what he called “personal superintelligence” would be required down the road.
Zuckerberg acknowledged that selling to enterprise customers represents a “different muscle” than Meta has historically used, given the company’s roots in advertising and consumer social platforms.
Beyond enterprise, Meta is also developing consumer-facing AI products, including personal AI agents and AI-enabled smart glasses. The company is additionally using large language models to accelerate development of new social apps, with recent launches including tools for Marketplace sellers, Facebook Groups, and vibe-coded games. Zuckerberg said more are planned.
The enterprise expansion could open revenue streams beyond advertising, which currently drives the bulk of Meta’s business, and subscriptions, which contribute a smaller share.
