Grokipedia, xAI’s AI-generated online encyclopedia, appears to have gone stale. According to a report published by Lawfare, no entry on the platform has been updated since April 24, 2026 — a period of more than three months.
Grokipedia launched in October 2025 at version 0.1 with an initial batch of 885,000 articles. A v0.2 release followed in November 2025, and the platform now lists more than 6,000,000 total articles on its live status page. That same page includes a section labeled “Recent changes to…” that currently displays the message: “No live edits available right now.”
Elon Musk, whose company xAI built the platform, had previously described Grokipedia as a “massive improvement” over Wikipedia. His last post on X mentioning Grokipedia, however, dates back to February 2026.
Lawfare’s analysis found no evidence that user-submitted suggestions are being acted upon. Examining 34,519 pages that had received at least one suggested edit — containing a total of 225,496 recommended edits — researchers found no accepted or rejected corrections dated within the past three months. Lawfare reviewed both popular and unpopular pages and reached the same conclusion across both categories.
Users on Reddit and X have raised questions about whether Grokipedia is effectively “dead.” xAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Verge.
The apparent freeze suggests the platform may no longer be actively maintained, though the reason for the halt is not clear from available information. Users can still submit article suggestions and individual page edits through the site, but whether those submissions are being reviewed remains uncertain.
