Slack launched Slack Code on August 20, 2026, introducing dedicated channels where teams can work alongside AI coding agents without switching between separate tools and conversations.
The feature allows users to tag AI agents — such as Anthropic’s Claude or Cognition’s Devin — directly within a channel. The agent then creates a project-specific code channel to handle the task. Team members can monitor the conversation, review code differences, view live previews of the agent’s output, provide feedback, and approve work before it goes live.
Slack Code channels are designed to archive automatically once their assigned task is complete, and they generate an audit log for recordkeeping. The feature also includes tools to compare coding changes and preview HTML output ahead of deployment.
Slack is positioning the feature as a way to treat AI agents “like teammates.” A similar approach is being promoted by SpaceXAI, which is marketing its Grok Bot agents using comparable language, according to the source.
Slack Code is available immediately on any Slack plan. It works with AI agents listed on Slack’s marketplace, and the company says agents from its founding partners — including Claude Code, Devin, Vercel Agent, and GitHub Copilot — will integrate with code channels.
The launch may signal a broader shift in how enterprise platforms handle AI-assisted development, moving collaboration and code review into the same workspace rather than requiring separate developer tools. By centralizing visibility and approvals within Slack, the feature could reduce friction for teams that already use the platform for day-to-day communication.
