Salesforce announced on Monday, June 15, 2026, that it will acquire Fin, an AI customer service platform, for $3.6 billion. The deal is expected to close in the final quarter of Salesforce’s fiscal year 2027, which falls in the first months of 2027 due to the company’s financial reporting calendar.
Formerly known as Intercom, Fin offers an AI agent that handles customer queries across multiple channels, including live chat, WhatsApp, SMS, phone calls, and Slack. Salesforce plans to integrate Fin’s technology and team into Agentforce, its existing enterprise platform that allows businesses to build custom AI agents for task automation.
“Fin brings proven agent technology, a deep commitment to customer success, and an incredible AI team that will complement Agentforce with powerful service agent capabilities,” said Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff. “Together, we’ll help companies of every size seize this opportunity — accelerating time to value with trusted agents that deliver measurable outcomes at scale.”
Fin co-founder and CEO Eoghan McCabe addressed customers following the announcement, noting that the acquisition may accelerate the company’s existing work. “With the resources of Salesforce this will only accelerate,” McCabe wrote on X. “And yet little will practically change. I’ll still be CEO, Des will still be running R&D, we’ll both still be committed to continuing to lead this category.” McCabe also referenced recent Fin developments, including a model called Apex and an internal agent called Operator.
The acquisition suggests Salesforce is looking to strengthen Agentforce’s customer service capabilities by adding Fin’s multi-channel AI agent technology, with both leadership teams signaling continuity in operations following the close of the deal.
