Respond.io, a Kuala Lumpur-based customer conversation management platform, announced in June 2026 that it has raised a $62.5 million Series B round led by Camber Partners, with participation from Endeavor Catalyst and existing investors. The raise follows a $7 million Series A in 2022 and brings the company’s profile as one of Malaysia’s notable tech startups into sharper focus.
The company, co-founded in Hong Kong in 2017 by CEO Gerardo Salandra, CTO Hassan Ahmed, and COO Iaroslav Kudritskiy, helps mid- to large-sized B2C businesses manage customer conversations across messaging channels including WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, Telegram, WeChat, and web chat. It uses AI agents to handle high volumes of customer inquiries, qualify leads, and close sales without human intervention. The team relocated the business to Malaysia two years after founding.
Respond.io reports $35 million in annual recurring revenue, growing 169% year-over-year, at a 30% profit margin, and is currently processing 2 billion messages per quarter. Unlike competitors that charge per user seat, the company charges based on conversation volume — a model Salandra says holds up as AI replaces human agents. “When fewer humans use your product, they make less money,” he said. “But we don’t charge like that.”
The company’s current revenue is split roughly 30% from APAC, 30% from Latin America, and 20% from the Middle East and Africa, with North America and Western Europe accounting for the remaining 20%. Salandra said those two regions are now the fastest-growing and expects them to become the largest segment within two to three years. The new capital will fund hiring, organic growth, and acquisitions — with the company already in talks with potential targets in North America and Europe.
Salandra said the company intends to remain disciplined with its spending despite the new funding. His stated long-term goal is a Nasdaq listing.
