Reddit announced in July 2026 that it is developing a new “video Reddit” experience that would let users watch or listen to the platform’s most popular posts. CEO Steve Huffman revealed the feature during the company’s second-quarter earnings call, saying it could be available for testing later this year.
The feature takes direct inspiration from a format that has already taken hold on TikTok, where text-to-speech narrations of viral Reddit stories are paired with unrelated footage such as gameplay or cooking videos. Huffman noted that TikTok currently has 19.6 million posts tagged #reddit and another 9.9 million tagged #redditstories.
“There is an emerging content type elsewhere on the internet of, basically, podcasts where people read Reddit content,” Huffman told investors. “I think this version of, like, listened-to or spoken Reddit can be really engaging, as well. So that would be almost a different format entirely.”
It is not yet clear how the feature will be integrated into Reddit’s main app. Huffman said the company will have something ready for testing later in 2026, without providing further specifics.
The announcement comes as several major platforms have been adding TikTok-style video feeds to their products. Facebook said last week it will test a full-screen video experience that launches when users open the app. Streaming services including Netflix, Disney+, Peacock, and HBO Max have added short video feeds in recent months, as have Amazon and LinkedIn.
Reddit also reported early traction with video in comments, a feature launched in June 2026. The company said that format already accounts for more than 10% of its video posts.
