Midjourney, the AI lab known for its image and video generation tools, has acquired Co-Star, a social astrology app with approximately 4.3 million monthly active users, according to Bloomberg. The deal was reported in July 2026; financial terms were not disclosed.
Co-Star allows users to generate astrological birth charts and share them with friends. The app uses a combination of AI and human writing to produce horoscopes, compatibility assessments, and other advice based on users’ astrological data. Co-Star’s team of around two dozen employees has joined Midjourney as part of the acquisition.
The move continues a pattern of expansion for Midjourney, which has historically been associated primarily with its Discord-based image and text generation service — the company currently has no standalone app. Beyond Co-Star, Midjourney is also reported to be developing a medical arm and a spa concept.
The addition of Co-Star’s consumer app development experience could prove significant for Midjourney. The source notes that the team’s background in building consumer-facing products may finally give Midjourney the foundation it needs to launch its own standalone app.
