Google has introduced a new photography feature called Camera Looks for its Pixel 11 lineup, but older Pixel devices will not have access to it — at least for now.
Camera Looks processes image data at the sensor level to produce photos that differ from the typical smartphone aesthetic. One of the available styles, called “Digi,” replicates the look of photos taken by older digital cameras. The feature was announced in 2026 alongside the Pixel 11 series.
Google spokesperson Alex Moriconi confirmed to The Verge that the feature is currently limited to the company’s newest hardware. “Our latest camera updates are only available on our latest devices,” Moriconi said. “We’re always looking to bring experiences to more users, but have nothing to share at this time.”
The statement leaves open the possibility that Camera Looks could eventually come to older Pixel phones, though no timeline or commitment has been offered.
The Pixel camera team is led by Isaac Reynolds, who discussed the technical workings of Camera Looks in a separate interview published alongside the feature’s announcement.
For consumers who already own a Pixel phone from a previous generation, the exclusivity means upgrading to a Pixel 11 device would be required to access the feature in its current form. Whether Google will extend Camera Looks to older models in a future software update remains unclear.
