Google began rolling out Wear OS 7 in June 2026 for the Pixel Watch 2, 3, and 4, bringing a new Live Updates feature, a battery life improvement, and a set of Gemini-powered tools — some of which will arrive later in the year.
The headline addition is Live Updates, which syncs real-time information — such as sports scores or meal delivery status — across both a user’s Android phone and their Wear OS watch simultaneously. Google also says Wear OS 7 delivers up to 10 percent more battery life compared to Wear OS 6.
Several Gemini Intelligence features are included in the update but will not launch until “later this year.” These include Create My Widget, which lets users generate custom watch widgets using natural language prompts, and multi-step app automation that could allow actions like making a restaurant reservation or placing a food order directly from the watch. Wear OS 7 will also update Gemini with Google’s “neural expressive” design and add Personal Intelligence support, which draws on data from connected Google apps to inform Gemini suggestions.
The update also introduces a media output switcher, letting users shift audio from one connected device to another, such as headphones or a Nest speaker. Google says smart glasses will be able to connect to Wear OS 7, allowing users to preview photos taken with the glasses on their watch.
Third-party developers gain access to a new Wear OS Widgets system, which Google describes as more dynamic and easier to build than the custom Tiles format introduced in 2019. Older devices running Wear OS 4, 5, or 6 can still use Tiles, or display the new widgets as full-screen tiles.
Finally, the Emergency Sharing feature has been expanded. In addition to contacting emergency services, the Pixel Watch can now automatically notify a user’s selected emergency contacts if it detects a fall, loss of pulse, or a car crash.
