Mozilla has begun rolling out a set of new home page widgets for Firefox, adding a focus timer, checklist, sports scores, and time zone display to the browser’s default new-tab screen. The update, noted in release notes as arriving between Firefox versions 151 and 152, was observed appearing in the browser in June 2026.
The widgets are accessible through Firefox’s home page customization tab, where users can add, remove, or expand each one. The focus timer defaults to Pomodoro-style intervals — 25 minutes of focus time followed by a 5-minute break — though both durations can be adjusted. An optional notification alerts users when a timer session ends.
The checklist widget brings basic task-tracking directly into the browser’s home page, offering functionality similar to dedicated tools users may already rely on. By placing these utilities on the new-tab screen, Firefox makes them visible each time a new tab is opened without requiring a separate app or browser extension.
The timer is described as minimal in design, positioned so it remains accessible without dominating the screen. Users who prefer a cleaner view can toggle widgets off entirely through the customization settings.
The widget rollout comes alongside a broader period of activity at Mozilla. This week, the organization also published a roadmap of upcoming changes, including a browser redesign referred to as Project Nova.
