Apple Blocks AI Siri Launch in EU, Blaming Digital Markets Act Requirements

Apple says its AI-powered Siri will not launch on iPhones and iPads in the EU, announced in June 2026 at WWDC 2026, blaming the Digital Markets Act and its demand that rivals like OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic get comparable access. In a follow-up post, Apple said Siri AI is delayed in the EU for iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, and there’s currently no timeline; the company’s “Trusted System Agent” proposal would take 18 months, but the European Commission rejected it.
