Bending Spoons has agreed to acquire Airtable, the spreadsheet and database company, for $1.28 billion in cash — the Italian firm’s first acquisition since going public in July 2026.
The deal, announced on August 4, 2026, values Airtable at approximately $2.25 billion when accounting for its current net cash-and-cash-equivalents balance, according to Bending Spoons. That figure represents a steep drop from Airtable’s peak valuation of over $11 billion during 2021, and from the roughly $4 billion valuation at which its shares were reportedly trading on secondary markets earlier this year.
Founded in 2013, Airtable has raised over $1.4 billion across multiple funding rounds. The company serves more than 500,000 organizations, including 80% of the Fortune 100, and reported annual recurring revenue of approximately $480 million as of June 2026 — growth of over 20% year over year. In January 2026, Airtable launched a product line called Superagent, an orchestration platform designed to help users deploy teams of AI agents to complete tasks.
“Airtable is a pioneering brand reshaping how teams organize data and manage critical workflows,” Bending Spoons founder Luca Ferrari said in a statement, adding that the acquisition would “accelerate innovation even further.”
Bending Spoons went public at an $18 billion valuation in July 2026. The company has built a track record of acquiring brands trading at discounts to their private valuations, then cutting staff, streamlining products, and pushing them toward profitability. Its portfolio includes Evernote, WeTransfer, Eventbrite, and Vimeo.
The Airtable deal follows that same pattern, with the $1.28 billion purchase price coming in well below the company’s last widely reported secondary-market valuation. Airtable CEO Howie Liu has led the company through its expansion into AI-driven workflow tools.
