Apple held its annual Worldwide Developers Conference keynote in 2026, announcing a wide range of updates across its operating systems, including a redesigned Siri, new iOS and macOS features, and expanded parental controls.
The headline announcement was a revamped voice assistant called Siri AI, built using the latest version of Apple Intelligence, which Apple developed in collaboration with Google. Apple AI head Mike Rockwell described the assistant as capable of back-and-forth conversations with “detailed and engaging answers.” Siri AI adds image editing and writing tools, onscreen awareness to pull context from the user’s display, and a standalone app with conversation history. It will be available on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro.
iOS 27 introduces Siri AI access via a swipe down from the Dynamic Island, a new “Siri Mode” in the Camera app that can identify objects in the viewfinder, and an opacity slider for the Liquid Glass design. The update will support iPhone 11 and later.
macOS 27, named Golden Gate, integrates Siri into the Spotlight search bar and lets users query selected files. It also includes a Liquid Glass opacity slider, tighter window corner radius, and the return of colorful sidebar icons.
Safari is gaining AI-powered tab organization by topic, a “Notify Me” feature for webpage changes such as product restocks, automatic compromised password updates, and the ability to create browser extensions using natural language descriptions.
Elsewhere, Messages will suggest photos based on conversation context, the Phone app will surface relevant information like flight confirmation codes at the start of calls, and Mail will offer improved suggestions along with calendar event creation from natural language input. The Home app will use AI to generate descriptions of camera clips, stitch footage from multiple cameras, support 4K clip viewing, and enable natural language clip search.
Apple also updated its parental controls, giving parents who set up child accounts the ability to select permitted apps and content, require approval before a child opens a new website, and manage screen time through a redesigned Screen Time menu.
