A new AI detection tool released by music generator company Treblo has flagged rapper Fenix Flexin’s song “Rubberz” as “very likely Treblo” with “high confidence,” intensifying an ongoing controversy over whether the track was made using artificial intelligence.
Treblo announced the open-source Treblo AI Music Classifier on Monday, August 4, 2026. The tool is designed to detect whether a song was generated using Treblo’s own model — though not other AI tools — and carries a false positive rate of less than 1 in 1,000. When run against “Rubberz,” the classifier returned a very high probability score.
Treblo CEO Ryan Tremblay said in a statement to The Verge: “The classifier returns a very high probability score for Rubberz, indicating the released audio was generated almost entirely by our model. That would make it the first known AI-generated song to reach the Billboard Hot 100.” Tremblay added, “Someone appears to have used our model to find a sound that millions of people connected with and that’s exciting.”
Suspicions about “Rubberz” had been circulating prior to the classifier’s release. Musician Medasin had previously stated with confidence that the track was made using Treblo specifically. According to Stereogum, Medasin also alleged in a since-expired Instagram story that Fenix used an AI stem separator to fabricate what appeared to be legitimate session files.
Fenix Flexin has continued to deny the allegations, posting clips he claims show the original recording session. Those videos have not resolved the dispute. Fenix did not immediately return a request for comment.
If the classifier’s findings hold up, “Rubberz” may represent a significant moment for the music industry — the first AI-generated track confirmed to reach the Billboard Hot 100 — raising questions about disclosure standards for AI-assisted music releases.
