Tinder is rolling out its in-person events feature to 26 cities worldwide by the end of September 2026, scaling up a program that launched in Los Angeles in March of that year. The company announced the expansion during Match Group’s second-quarter earnings call on Tuesday, August 5, 2026.
Match Group CEO Spencer Rascoff said the Events tab — which surfaces curated local gatherings at venues including speakeasies, bowling alleys, raves, and pottery classes — will reach 75 cities by the end of 2026. Since its March debut in LA, the feature has expanded to nine additional U.S. and European cities and has featured more than 60 events. Tinder is not running the events directly; instead, it makes them discoverable through the app via partnerships with event providers, which Rascoff described as a “low-cost model.”
The expansion comes as Tinder faces declining user numbers. Monthly active users fell 7% in Q2 2026, a slight improvement over the 8% drop recorded the previous quarter. The app has not reported positive user growth in more than three years. Tinder’s revenue also declined in the quarter, sending Match Group’s stock down more than 10% in after-hours trading.
The push into real-world events is partly a response to shifting behavior among younger users. Match Group’s internal research found that nearly half of singles aged 18 to 29 want to share in-person experiences with people who could become closer connections. In LA, 71% of Tinder’s active users aged 18 to 24 engaged with the Events tab after its launch, which the company characterized as strong adoption among Gen Z users.
Rascoff said the events strategy could also attract new users, noting that roughly three in five people who do not currently use Tinder said events would make them more likely to try the app, and a similar share said it would make connecting feel easier.
