Bingers, a new TV show and movie-tracking app, launched in August 2026 to replace TV Time after that app was shut down by its owner, Whip Media. The new app was built by Antonio Pinto, one of TV Time’s original co-founders.
Whip Media closed TV Time — which had been installed more than 26.4 million times — to focus on AI efforts instead. The decision drew significant backlash from users, with more than 28,000 signing a petition urging the company to keep the app alive through crowdfunding or subscriptions. TV Time was removed from app stores on July 15, 2026.
Pinto said last month he would attempt to rebuild TV Time’s core features, citing the app’s unusually engaged community as his motivation. “I believe TV Time was a diamond in the rough that kind of lost its way,” he told TechCrunch. “I was stunned to see that the community stayed so active and so big even after the app was neglected for years and received no updates.”
Bingers centers on three features: tracking shows and movies you’ve watched or plan to watch, discovering new content, and a social layer that lets users comment on episodes, rate them, post photos and GIFs, react with emojis, and vote on favorite characters. Users can also import their viewing history from TV Time’s data export tool.
To manage server costs — a factor Pinto cited in TV Time’s decline — Bingers offloads processing tasks like viewing calendars and watchlists to users’ devices rather than company servers. The app will initially rely on voluntary user contributions for revenue, with Pinto indicating longer-term plans around in-person community experiences, though details have not yet been disclosed.
Bingers is available on both iOS and Android.
