AI note-taking app Granola launched an Apple Watch app in 2026, allowing users to record and transcribe meetings directly from their wrist without pulling out their phone.
The app can be set as a watch face for quick access to transcription at any time, and it surfaces reminders about upcoming meetings. It works alongside Granola’s iOS app, which launched last year.
Co-founder Chris Pedregal told TechCrunch the Watch app is designed for situations where taking out a phone would be impractical — such as walking one-on-one meetings. When Granola tested the app internally with Apple Watch-wearing employees, a significant portion of their mobile usage shifted from iPhone to the Watch.
The release comes as a number of companies have introduced auxiliary hardware devices for recording and transcribing meetings. Granola said it chose to build for Apple Watch rather than integrate with a separate hardware product. Dictation app Monlogue also added Apple Watch support earlier this year, alongside meeting note-taking features for both online and offline use.
The launch adds a hands-free option for in-person meeting capture, which could appeal to users who find phone-based recording disruptive or inconvenient in face-to-face settings.
Granola reached unicorn status earlier this year after closing a $125 million Series C funding round led by Index Ventures.
