Facebook announced a set of updates in July 2026 aimed at increasing engagement and organizing the platform for its users. The changes include a standalone app for frequent Marketplace sellers, a free identity verification system, and a new full-screen video interface.
The new app, called “Seller,” is designed for people who list and sell items on Facebook Marketplace regularly. It allows sellers to manage listings, message buyers, and track item performance from a single dedicated interface. Facebook Marketplace currently draws more than 430 million monthly listings and has over 1.1 billion active users.
Facebook is also rolling out a free verification system called Facebook Verified — distinct from Meta Verified, which requires a paid subscription. The new system allows users to take a selfie to confirm they are a real person. Once verified, a check mark inside a white circle appears on their profile across Facebook Dating, Marketplace, and Groups. This differs visually from the blue badge available through the paid Meta Verified subscription.
Additionally, Facebook said it is testing an optional, immersive full-screen video view that opens automatically when users launch the app. The feature will initially roll out in “video-heavy” international markets before reaching the U.S. next year. Users will have the option to disable it and return to the standard feed-based interface. Facebook has previously tested a similar design with Instagram in select markets.
The company said it plans to add AI capabilities to the Seller app to help automate tasks such as writing item descriptions and searching through groups to answer questions.
The announcements continue a pattern of new app releases from Meta. In May 2026, the company launched Forum, a Reddit-like app for Facebook Groups, and this month released a vibe-coding app called Pocket.
