Cursor announced a new iOS mobile app on Monday, June 29, 2026, allowing users to prompt and oversee coding agents directly from their phones — without needing access to a desktop environment.
The app connects to Cursor’s existing platform and ties into changes introduced with Cursor 2.0 in October, which shifted the service toward independent, autonomous coding agents. Users can start new coding agents through the mobile app or continue interacting with agents already initiated from the desktop client.
The release follows similar mobile offerings from Anthropic and OpenAI, both of which provide ways to interact with their coding tools on mobile devices. Cursor’s parent company was acquired by SpaceX for $60 billion, though the company appears to be continuing product development at pace.
The move reflects a broader shift in how developers are working with AI coding tools. As these tools increasingly handle code writing autonomously, developers no longer need constant access to large code bases or multi-monitor setups. Many are switching to phones, which allow continuous conversations with remote agents.
Boris Cherny, Anthropic’s head of Claude Code, described this shift in a recent talk. “Most of my coding now is on my phone,” Cherny said. “I would have said ‘you’re crazy’ if you told me that six months ago, but yeah, here we are.”
The Cursor mobile app is currently available for iOS devices. Its launch suggests the model of developer-as-agent-overseer — rather than developer-as-code-writer — may be accelerating adoption of mobile as a primary interface for software development work.
