OpenAI released a new set of capabilities for its Codex platform on Tuesday, June 3, 2026, targeting enterprise and knowledge workers with six job-specific plug-ins and two new productivity features.
The six plug-ins — covering data analytics, creative production, sales, product design, equity investing, and investment banking — are available directly within the Codex app. Each bundles integrations, instructions, and context designed to let Codex approximate the tasks of a specific role. The tools are intended to work out of the box, though OpenAI notes they will improve with user customization.
Alongside the plug-ins, OpenAI introduced a Sites feature that allows Codex to publish work output as a hosted interactive website rather than a local file. Partner platforms for the feature include Wix, Base44, Replit, Lovable, Figma, and Emergent, with OpenAI planning to expand that ecosystem. A new Annotations feature also lets users designate specific parts of a document or file to enable more precise commands and context operations.
To accompany the launch, OpenAI released an internal report on Codex usage in knowledge work. According to the report, Codex now has more than 5 million weekly active users — more than six times the figure recorded at the desktop app’s launch in February 2026. While developers remain the largest user group, knowledge workers now account for roughly 20 percent of users and are growing more than three times as fast.
The release follows OpenAI’s launch three weeks prior of the OpenAI Deployment Company, a joint venture backed by more than $4 billion from global investment firms, aimed at integrating OpenAI tools into business infrastructure. “The challenge now is helping companies integrate these systems into the infrastructure and workflows that power their businesses,” said OpenAI Chief Revenue Officer Denise Dresser.
The moves suggest OpenAI is accelerating its push into enterprise markets, where competitor Anthropic launched its own Enterprise Agents program in February 2026, followed by a finance-focused set of agents in May.
