Asana has acquired StackAI, a no-code AI agent-builder, for $75 million, the company announced Thursday in May 2026 alongside its quarterly earnings and investor call. StackAI’s co-founders, Tony Rosinol and Bernard Aceituno, will join Asana as part of the deal.
StackAI builds AI agents designed to operate within existing business systems, integrating with platforms such as Salesforce, Slack, and Google’s G Suite. The company was part of Y Combinator’s Winter 2023 cohort and had raised just under $20 million in total funding, including a $16 million Series A round backed by Gradient, Epaklon Capital, Lobby VC, LifeX Ventures, and Vercel CEO Guillermo Rauch.
Asana framed the acquisition as central to its strategy of becoming what it describes as “the operating system for human-agent teams.” The company already offers AI-oriented products including its AI Studio agent builder and AI Teammates pre-built automations. Asana argues that its deep integration into existing corporate workflows gives it access to context and training data that outside AI tools would not have.
“This acquisition accelerates our roadmap and takes us into the next phase of human-agent work,” said CEO Dan Rogers. “We’re already seeing real momentum with AI Teammates and AI Studio … StackAI now lets them go further, agentifying the most complex business processes end-to-end.”
The deal comes during a difficult stretch for Asana on public markets. The company has lost more than half its market cap since the introduction of ChatGPT, a decline that worsened following the departure of founder Dustin Moskovitz as CEO last March. Revenue has continued to grow, however, and new leadership has pointed to its human-agent product line as a path to recovery. The acquisition may accelerate that effort by expanding Asana’s no-code automation capabilities.
