Spotify launched a podcast clipping feature on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, allowing users to cut and share specific audio segments from episodes directly within the app.
A new scissors icon in the app’s “Now Playing” view lets listeners select a portion of a podcast, trim it, and preview it before sharing. Once ready, users can distribute the clip via social media or to friends and colleagues. The sharing menu also retains existing options, including links to the full episode, a chapter, or a timestamp.
Saved clips are stored in the user’s Spotify Library, where they can be revisited or added to podcast playlists. The feature is rolling out globally to both free and Premium users on mobile, with availability expanding to more shows over time.
Spotify says the feature is partly a response to how podcast content is consumed. The company notes that tech and AI executives have increasingly chosen podcasts over traditional media interviews, meaning more news is now breaking in long-form audio formats. Clips could make it easier for key moments from those lengthy conversations to reach a wider audience.
The launch also builds on momentum Spotify has seen with Chapters, a feature for saving longer podcast segments introduced earlier in 2026. Since that rollout, Chapters have been saved and added to playlists more than 2 million times per month, according to the company.
Spotify also notes that shareable clips may support podcast marketing by surfacing notable moments that encourage listeners to tune in to full episodes.
