Google announced a September 2026 feature drop for Android devices, introducing several updates including a tracker-free item location tool in Find Hub, a new motion sickness aid called Motion Assist, and expanded capabilities for Gemini Live.
The most notable addition to Find Hub allows users to ask Gemini to remember where they stored an infrequently used item — such as a passport — without attaching a physical tracker. Gemini saves the item’s location and lets users add a photo. When needed, the item can be retrieved by asking Gemini directly or by checking Find Hub’s remembered items tab. The feature requires Android 16 or later and is limited to countries where both Gemini and Find Hub are supported.
Motion Assist, Android’s counterpart to Apple’s Motion Cues feature, overlays dots on the screen that move in response to a vehicle’s movements, with the goal of reducing motion sickness for passengers using their phones while traveling. Google did not specify which Android versions will support Motion Assist.
Also included in the drop is Guided Vision, which uses a phone’s camera within Gemini Live to help users read fine print on labels or menus, or locate specific items — such as an ingredient in a cupboard. The feature provides voice feedback when camera framing is off and is available on devices running Android 9 or later.
Two updates arrive for Google Messages: chat themes now let users select a background image that text bubbles automatically match, and all participants in a Messages conversation can now create and edit shared notes through Google Keep, enabling collaboration on lists or trip planning.
